Vancouver Mural Festival Presents: VMF After Dark x Deep From the Underground

VMF After Dark is the official after party for Vancouver Mural Festival. As events finish at the nearby City Centre Hub, wander over to The Biltmore Cabaret for a night of art, music and togetherness.

For this first time since COVID lock down of March 2020, we are reviving Deep From the Underground, what formerly used to be a weekly Friday hip-hop & house club night at Biltmore Cabaret. This special edition presented by VMF After Dark will be celebrating 49 years of hip hop with a music performance, dance performance, live painting, DJ's & dancing, and a music cypher with a live band and guest vocalists & MC's. We will also be celebrating the life of Wundrkut, a beloved hiphop head & DJ for the local Vancouver community.

For over 50 years, the Biltmore Cabaret has been a fixture in the community as both a public house for Vancouverites and a platform for groundbreaking musical performances. Quintessentially East Van, the Biltmore Cabaret is nestled in the heart of Mount Pleasant’s micro brewery district. With a focus on live music, we draw from the rich local scene in Vancouver as well as the best in Canadian and international touring acts. The venue space itself has been utilized for live music, art shows, filming, performance pieces, podcasts, private parties and corporate events.

Vancouver Mural Festival is an annual celebration of public art designed to connect, reflect and celebrate our diverse communities through art and live events. We recognize that our event and murals are produced on the traditional unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlil̓wətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. With this awareness, we ensure to create space for MST curators, artists and performers to shine a spotlight on the visual culture of these local nations in our festival. We see public art as an effective way to celebrate our diverse local cultures and their histories, with special focus on providing a platform for the local Nations' contemporary and traditional cultural expressions and histories.
