Westwood Recordings Presents:

w/special guest Astrocolor

+ support from Average Gypsy & Diana Boss

Friday, September 25, 2020

The Imperial - 319 Main St, Vancouver

Astrocolor perform and record live electronic music, recalling the Chemical Brothers, Air, and St. Germain. The band plays on the edges of funky house, Balearic, breakbeat, and ambient.

Astrocolor III sees the band’s instrumental and electronic roots expand into traditional song formats with feature vocals (“A Light Goes Out feat. Kuba Oms”), acid breakbeat (“Smell of Acid”), alternative house (“Daylight Savings”), and electro-funk (“Break Your Body”). Produced by the band’s own Neil Cooke-Dallin, Astrocolor III is built equally for a big night out in the clubs or a dinner party soundtrack at home.

Astrocolor have brought their celebratory live show to seminal west coast music festivals including Burning Man, Rifflandia, Song & Surf, Tall Tree, and Atmosphere Gathering. The band also made debut appearances last year in Toronto (Canadian Music Week), Seattle (Upstream Music Festival), Vancouver (with Five Alarm Funk at the legendary Commodore Ballroom), St Louis, and Chicago. Astrocolor’s catalogue of original material has well over one million plays on Spotify and a loyal following of regular listeners globally.

Vancouver based DJ/production couple, Average Gypsy have quickly climbed the ranks of the underground scene with their undeniably contagious, high energy sets, captivating stage presence and teamwork on the decks. Considering their tireless work ethic and dedication to honing their sound, it’s not surprising that these two have earned a solid reputation for always delivering a topnotch performance and are starting to capture the attention of a global audience. In the past year, they've played several shows in the Southern California region and have toured in the US, Spain and Mexico. Recently, the duo toured with Jackin’ House legend, ILL PHIL (UK) and Astral Harvest Music Festival (AB), as well as opened for Nukid (LA) and Wax Motif (LA).

Talented equally on the decks as in the studio, Average Gypsy’s most recent EP, ‘On Yo Block’ reached #1 in Future House Releases and #30 of all releases on Beatport. Hitting the studio hard, you can expect a full Average Gypsy album dropping next fall. Their music can be described as bouncy, 4 to the floor beats, characterized by deep, wobbly, rolling, UK inspired basslines; heavily influenced by hip hop and the underground bass house music scene. They specialize in Wobble House, G House and Bass House.

Spend some time with Average Gypsy and you'll quickly learn that they operate out of pure love and integrity. They have recently co-founded The Rise & Shine FamJam Fundraiser, a festival that donates 100% of the proceeds to charity. The love and passion Average Gypsy have for their craft and for each other is undeniable and transcends everything they do!

Diana Boss

Diana Boss is an attitude. Diana Boss is a way of life. Diana Boss is about doing what you want to do and being who you want to be.

But what's in a name? An obvious nod to the queen, Miss Ross, herself, who once said on the Ed Sullivan show, "well soul is kind of hard to describe, but I think soul is everyone doing their own thing," but also to groups like Lucy Pearl, whose carefree sound and iconic style remain a heavy influence.

As a production team, Diana Boss’ soulful, polished sound skirts the line between the underground and commercial dance music. Their love for sexy deep house has allowed them to move effortlessly from day parties to after parties. Diana Boss' vision is to be recognized as world-class producers and studio collaborators promoting personal connections and personal expression.

As DJs, they've supported artists like Gene Farris, BOT, and Gold Fish at established Vancouver venues such as Gorg-O-Mish, Fortune Sound Club, MIA, 1181, and the VAL Villa as well as most recently playing at Center of Gravity Music Festival.

-- We love our fans and thank you all for the support. --
